A special bag for Columbus, Ohio

This past weekend I attended the Stampin' Up! Regional Event in Columbus, Ohio with Patty, Elaine and Debbie.  I hope they had as much fun as I did.  Swapping is a magical part of any stamping event and Friday my aunt and I made this cute bag to collect our swaps.  (Swapping is like Trick-Or-Treat without the chocolate!)  This bag was a plain canvas, three-pack.  Three 4" ruffles are sewn onto the bag.  I'm not a sew-er, but let me know if you have any questions.  We turned the edges because I was working with a professional who would cringe at the thought of frayed edges and non-ironed fabric.  :)
Wouldn't this be cute with a Big Shot initial and a flower in the bottom corner?

Here's a link to a no-sew bag if you're interested in making your own with less steps (bonus points if you manage to not glue yourself to the bag): http://scatteredthoughtsofasahm.blogspot.com/2012/02/no-sew-ruffle-tote-with-tutorial-and_22.html

ETA: Thanks to Pinterest I found another tutorial.  It's not exactly how we made the above bag, but this one involves sewing as opposed to the glue link above: http://www.u-createcrafts.com/2011/10/creative-guest-ruffled-tote-tutorial-by.html

I'll be back this week with other great projects from Regionals.  It's not too late to join my team and take advantage of Sale-A-Bration perks!

You're So Sweet!

Man, it's a lovely day today.  The sunroof was cracked on this mornings drive into work.  It smells like spring.  I cannot wait to see the Cherry Blossoms start blooming.

Here's a quick card that I haven't shared with you.  I'll be honest, I'm on the fence with the Sweet Cake stamp set, but one advantage to having awesome teammates is using and sharing their stamps and ideas (thanks Jan!).
The giant chocolate heart is placed on a shabby piece of In-Color Patterns DSP and becomes the focal point and is made with the Framelits Heart Collection.  I stamped the image in Rose Red on Whisper White and then I used a marker on a clean stamp to color just the cupcake bottom part, stamped again and quickly cut it out and aligned it with the original image.

I hope you have a sweet day!
These products are from the Occasions Mini catalog.  Let me know if you have any questions about the products used!

Vintage Beauty

While at Diva day (speaking of, I'm headed to another Diva today thanks to my wonderful team and customers), I had the opportunity to recreate a Stamping Legend's card.  Jan had some cards she received in San Antonio and I'm certain this little gem is The Kimberly Van Diepen's Card.
What I love about this card is the great use of scraps.  I can't make myself throw away scraps, but I fall short at using them sometimes.  This card made me get out of my comfort zone and get a little messy!  Remember to spritz in the color catcher or directly over the sink/trash can.  Also, stop one spritz early - nothing is worse than going slightly overboard with the smooch.

Kimberly posted her original, check it out here.

Ink: Poppy Parade, Soft Suede

Embossed DSP

A quick little technique for you today.  I think Jill Hilliard pinned a similar card and I thought it would be great to recreate it this weekend with stamping friends.  We used Versa Mark to stamp the Fresh Vintage flower onto the Sale-A-Bration Everyday Enchantment DSP and then white embossed it.  It's OK to stamp on DSP.  It's really fun.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

Trio Hearts

Happy Valentine's Day!  Here's the card I'm giving Mr. Sweetest Designs today.  It's a quick little card.  I didn't have any dimensionals with me while I stamped with friends, so I improvised a bit.  That middle heart is really jumping off the page!
Here's something else that has been around my house.  Actually, I made these bottles in November and they've been up since.  They were snowy looking.  These are recycled bottles, labels removed, spray painted white.  Then spray adhesive is generously applied and epsom salt dumped over.

HAVE A LOVELY day!

No Stamped Project Today

With a bit of luck, if everyone is still healthy, I am stamping today with some of my dearest friends.

Anyways....while I was sick this week I was cleaning out some drawers.  Do you have a "junk" drawer?  Well we have (ahem) several.  Every store we shop at has some bonus frequent discount card.  I am guilty of grabbing another card at the checkout because I have no idea where the card is and just want the discount.  Please tell me I'm not alone.
We also had quite the drawer of gift cards.  Which is great, but not really helpful if you're out shopping and don't have the gift card with you.  Sooooo......I made the ring of cards that neatly stow in my purse pocket.
I used my cropadile, binder ring and a scrap piece of ribbon.  If you attempt this, make sure you don't punch throw the swipe-y part or any of the bar codes/numbers.  Much to my demise, not all cards have this information in the same spot.

Have a great weekend!

Four Squares

Are you using your Sale-A-Bration product?  I sure am :)

What do you think of this card?

Truth:  The bottom card was the original I made at Diva Day.  Of all the cards (and I made a TON), this striking card was my most favorite.  For my re-make, I used a Poppy Parade panel and stamped the Fresh Vintage image in VersaMark.  Love it!  I then sponged the edges with Soft Suede.  The stamps are punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch.  The bottom card was almost the same, the flower was stamped tone-on-tone (peach parfait ink on peach parfait card stock), no sponging and some sentiments on staz-on black.

Which do you prefer?

Fresh Vintage

My dear friend has a great eye and she recently pinned this great card that I HAD to copy.  Literally, I ran to my stamp room to make this card.  It.  Was.  That.  Good.  :)
It's from a fellow demonstrator, Pat Mayer and Pat had posted it on Stampin' Connection.  Stampin' Connection is a demonstrator-only website where we chat and share ideas and photos.  Joining my team now will allow you access to Stampin' Connection!

I switched the card up from Pat's original.  The entire card is black and white.  So crisp!
