Framelits Video

I have a quick video from Stampin' Up! Home Office about the new framelits dies.

There are two collections, the Hearts and Labels.  These babies will be getting a lot of use.  I hope you'll like them as much as I do!  

Happy Birthday Tag!

I like using (inexpensive) gift bags, but making them look better with a nifty tag.
This one starts with a big shot tag and uses the Sweet Cake stamp set.  I stamped the image twice, once in Rose Red, once in Early Espresso.  I cut them out, and layer the base on the original Rose Red image.
The banner is fun, secured with a brad with bakers twine.

Cute, right?

Bordering on Romance - another look!

Remember this Pool Party Bordering on Romance card?
This card uses the same stamp, but looks completely different because I colored in the flowers this time and it's much more colorful than the previous card.  If I'm coloring; I stamp with Staz On.  It's a waterproof true black that doesn't run when you color!

My friend Danielle taught me a trick to securing the pleated ribbon around the edge of the card stock.  She clips the pleat so it wraps and lays flat around the edge of the cardstock.

Pool Party!

Holy cow!  Pool weather was here in D.C. the past couple of days.  Saturday I had the windows open, heat off.  We were in the 60's!  It was a wonderful day to be outside.
This little card uses Pool Party and Whisper White.  In the Occasions Mini, seam binding was released in the Pool Party color.  (I love seam binding!)  I really enjoy pairing pool party with island indigo.

WOW you're the best

Didn't you want to hear that on a Saturday?  Maybe you're in the middle of scrubbing the bathrooms and loads of laundry....you're the best! This is such a quick and versatile card.

I wish you could see the details on this DSP.  The Calypso Coral has white hearts that are raised.  Take a look at page 33 of the mini to see the other patterns of this DSP.  The heart is cut with the Framelit and then embossed.  Very little stamping but a big impact.  This would make a wonderful card to duplicate, change out the greetings and colors for a gift set.

Get your Love on...

This is a re-post from 2011.  But it's so wonderful, I wanted you to see it again.  Yesterdays card got me all love-y dove-y, plus I got out these bad boys this weekend to start decorating!

Here's some close ups...!

That's the Newsprint and Love Letter DSP (LOVE LETTER has been in the CLEARANCE RACK!) in little magnetic frames.  A bow made of Cherry Cobbler seam binding on the upper left.  Big Shot butterflies, letters, hearts.  (Remember Bigz dies cut multiple layers at once....fold your cardstock, keeping the fold lines INSIDE of the die and you'll make paper-dolls! Or in this case, connecting hearts!).  I used Stampin' Up! dimensionals to hold the hearts.  I cut out the Eiffel tower from Artist Etchings.

Here's a basic glass candle holder I bought from a discount store ($1).  I used the sticky pages (it's a giant sheet of sticky strip!) and my Big Shot's simple letter die to cut out LOVE and sprinkled on the Silver Glass GLITTER! A little tip if you try this at home...applying the letters to a curved surface can be a bit tricky.  Take you time, and you may need a cut a slit in the sticky page to get it to lay nicely.

If you'd like to recreate the wreath, here's what you need.  It's rather easy and you can finish in about 2 hours.

You need a little less than 1 yard of felt.  Mine was $2.99/yard at regular price and I thought it was a rich Cherry Cobbler color!  I cut the felt in 3-1/2" strips.  Using the Big Shot, cut one-hundred (100) 3" circles.  You can cut multiple layers at once! It goes rather quickly.  :)
I bought straight pins.  You need 100 (one for each circle) plus a few extra for the bow.  The wreath styrofoam came from a craft store for $3.19 at regular price.  And don't forget your favorite Stampin' Up! ribbon.  I used 5/8" Very Vanilla Satin ribbon.  Yummy!!

Take each circle and fold in half and then in half again, pushing the pin thru the tip and into the styrofoam.  Here's another view (below). 

At first, don't be alarmed if it doesn't look like much.  It'll come together and you'll get a feel for spacing.  If you see the styrofoam peeking thru, simply move some circles over.  100 circles was perfect for my wreath form.
I don't cover the back and I used some pins to hold the ribbon hanger in position.

Did you love the Mixed Bunch card yesterday?  I have another one today, but with a completely different color combo.  I wish I would have put these colors together, but I didn't.  My dear friend Jan came up with this layout and I love love love Crumb Cake with Peach Parfait and Early Espresso on Very Vanilla.  I think this will make a wonderful scrapbook page; don't you? (Sorry the Espresso don't photo well; it was overcast and now I uploaded this dark photo).

The image is stamped on Very Vanilla, several times, in a random pattern in various colors.  One is punched out, popped on a dimensional and a brad makes the center.

Yep, this will be a scrapbook page layout!

 Happy 2012!  It is Day 1 into 2012, and I already am disappointing you.  I don't have any pretty projects to show you.  It's not because I don't have any awesome new products (I am LOADED with new mini and SAB goodies for you!), it's not because I don't have a camera (hello Nikon), it's not because I don't have any projects (stacks on them; including my 2011 Holiday cards that used the stocking punch and GLITTER paper).  It's because it's six pm and I'm sitting on the couch under a blanket (watching the Bengals lose).  My year started with a giant cleaning episode this morning. The one that happens every so often.  You know, where you wipe the molding and baseboards?  So I cleaned and mopped and organized.  Then I had amazing cinnamon rolls, compliments of my momma and perused the sales.

It had been approximately 30 days since I'd ventured to the grocery (except when I needed cream cheese for the 10-batches of truffles we made).  It.  Was. Empty.  Here.  Chicken was on special at 1.99/lb and I had been toying with the idea to try Once A Month Cooking, especially with the new job. Previously I would beat Mr. Sweetest Designs (Mr. SD) home and would prepare dinner and have it mostly ready when he came home.  Now we're going to carpool 3 days a week.  What's a girl to do?  Push back dinners another 45 minutes?  Eat out?  Eat take-out?  $200 at the grocery, 4 hours later, several pans washed and rewashed and we have 26 meals in the freezer and fridge.  We have baked ziti, stuffed shells, cashew chicken, chicken pot pie, cripsy chicken wraps, savory chicken, taco bake, taco meat and spagetti sauce.  I actually have supplies for four other recipes (probably yielding another 12-16 meals), but had to quit when the freezer was full!!  I packaged everything in 8"x8" foil pans and ziplock bags.  This will also reduce the evening dishes!  In theory I can be doing better things in the evening - better than cooking and cleaning the dishes and kitchen.  Like stamping!  (And if my math is right, we're at $5 a meal, $2.50/plate).  So more money for stamps!  I have a goal to stay out of the grocery store for another 30 days, except for lunch food.

I have no idea if this little adventure will work, but really it was easy today and I wasn't very organized (mostly because I had no idea what I was doing), but my feet hurt from standing in kitchen.  So it's six o'clock and I'm sitting on the couch under a blanket (and the Bengals are still losing, although charging a slight come back).  I am working on some things in MDS.
