Spooky Friend?

Here's another card using the Great Friend set. I love the new DSP in the holiday mini, Night and Day. I can't tell, is this card spooky? I hope not. There's a cute butterfly on it! I did have to restamp the butterfly. The first time I stamped it in Basic Black and it looked more like a bat than a butterfly. The second time I stamped it in Basic Gray. I think it's less spooky now. Did you ever read: The Bernstein Bears Spooky Old Tree? I loved that book and this card reminds me of that book! :)

Thanks for checking out todays card.

A Monochromatic Friend

Happy Tuesday friends. I love 4-day weeks! I hope this post finds you all well rested from an amazing weekend. Our weekend was very productive - I got a lot of boring things completed like cleaning the baseboards (I'm very glamorous!). Thanks for all your prompt questions and interest in the sets and paper. I meant to get them all photographed today, but I was busy and then it was too dark to get good photos. Does that happen to you? I need some more hours in the day!!

This card I made at the Remarkable retreat, I just didn't get it photographed. Are you seeing a trend?

You should check out http://www.sweetestkitchendesigns.blogspot.com/ too. I've been cooking and photographing for the site, I just haven't found time to import the pics and write the recipe! I digress, wow, I meant to tell you that I'll be using My Digital Studio to make recipe cards over there to accompany the photos. It's a cross between this site and the kitchen site.

Ok, let's get on the real reason you're here: the CARD! A good selection of DSP can make a card go quickly.

Great Friend Envelope Card

Hello my friends. Happy Monday morning. I have something a bit different for ya today! (I like to keep you guessing!). This darling card is made from an envelope. The envelope is sealed, the top is cut off, the bottom is decorated and then ran through the crimper. This way the top snuggly fits on the bottm (the bottom has been slightly decreased in size by crimping). The message is tucked inside.

Sweet Deets (all supplies Stampin' Up!):
Stamps: Great Friend
Ink: Always Artichoke, Certainly Celery, Rich Razzleberry
CS: Confetti, Always Artichoke, Certainly Celery
Accessories: Big Shot SU! Little Leaves!

Bag, Tag, Box (BTB)

HAPPY FRIDAY! Do you have a great weekend planned? We do!!!!! Fridays are FANTASTIC and a great day to unveil a new segment here at Sweetest Designs: Bag, Tag, Box!
I've got some great boxes and tags and bags in store for you. These are great for holidays, presents and shower gifts and centerpieces.

Best of all they're easily customized and ecomonical.

This is a Gable Box. It used one piece of card stock plus some for decorating. I used scraps (whisper white and suede for the focal image) and will not include that in the cost of the box. Kraft, black or white CS is about 19 cents per sheet, colored cardstock is about 23 cents per sheet. I used a about 8" of ribbon to secure the box closed (this is approx. 15 cents). Minimal amounts of sticky strip is needed! I'll guess I used 12" or 25 cents worth of adhesive. TOTAL COST OF BOX: 59 cents!

This box is quite sturdy and great trendy shape and design and very easy to measure, cut and fold.

I double stamped the butterfly and cut it out, bent it, and placed it ontop of the original image. Here's a side shot of the raised butterfly. The wide oval punch is perfect for shaping the handles! The tops are rounded with a corner rounder.

Sweet Deets (all supplies Stampin' Up!):
Stamps: Friends 24-7, Great Friend
Ink: Certainly Celery, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede
CS: Kraft, Soft Suede, Whisper White
Accessories: 1/2" polka dot grosgrain soft suede, corner rounder, wide oval punch
