Sneak Peek 2009-2010 with a Bella Bleu twist

Bridal season is in full swing. Do you remember this bright and cheerful and fresh card? Here's a similar layout, using the same stamps, with a completely different tone. See how changing your colors can alter the feel of a card. If you don't own Bella Blue, you need it. Do you hear me? It's a must have. It's classic. It's clean. It's elegant. It was in last year's catalog and it will be in the NEW catalog (tomorrow's the big day - are you ready??). This is the same paper and colors I used for this recipe book (a bridal shower gift). I again used the scraps on my desk to decorate the inside. This card is 5"x5".
Sweet Deets (all supplies Stampin' Up!): Stamps: Razzle Dazzle, Teeny Tiny Wishes Ink: Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand CS: Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand textured, Very Vanilla
DSP: Bella Bleu Accessories: Modern Label Punch, Movers and Shakers Modern Label Punch, Very Vanilla 3/8" Taffetta Ribbon

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY to purchase any and all retiring stamps, including the sets from the MINI catalog. The online ordering function will be disabled at midnight for a few hours while the catalogs are transitioned at the site.

Thanks for stopping by,

Sweetest Stems, Kiwi Kiss and Raspberry Tart

ETA: The top of the box is open. Maybe later I will create an acetate lid, but for now, it's open, and I'm ok with that. The bottom folds up to cover the bottom 1/4th. I still think it's finished enough to give as a gift.

Hi friends. I had a set of wonderful cards completed and needed a way to package them up.

I used Lauren Meader's desktop stationary template for my inspiration (it's the first project shown). I then found these (free) instructions. Now, I must warn you, for some reason, I could not get the box to work out as exactly described by Valerie. Plus, her dimensions called for 8 5/8" by 11 1/8" piece of paper. That requires a 12"x12" paper. I, being thrifty, mangaged to make my box out of 8 1/2" x 11" paper - hopefully nothing was lost - you be the judge. My box was also large enough to accomodate envelopes. As with any tutorial you try, use a scrap piece of computer paper - NOT your expensive cardstock and designer series paper. As an added bonus, you'll have a template/prototype to keep if you want to make the project again. Ok, let's get onto the box. I made my box out of textured cardstock (one sheet 8 1/2" x 11") for added weight and stability and added a DSP belly band (12" x 1"). I topped it off with a snip of kiwi kiss satin ribbon (love that ribbon and I will miss it!) Here's a side shot of the box.

For the complete set, here are all the cards I'd made using the Raspberry Tart DSP and Sweet Stems. I'm really going to miss the Raspberry Tart paper. These are not my colors, but I really loved this paper and the mix of colors.

Please understand I cannot give you all the ingredients used for these cards. It was paper, punches, DSP. Rose red, kiwi kiss, whisper white, cameo coral, pink piroutte. All supplies Stampin' Up!

Maybe I'll recreate this with the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP and the new in-colors. Isn't this a great little set of cards and box for a gift?

Thanks for stopping by. I hope this inspires you to be creative today.

And whooooo hoooooo only a 4-day week this week!

And question, does it help when I include the stamp set picture from the catalog, as shown below? Would you like to see this feature in upcoming posts?

Thanks.

IMPORTANT NEWS, IMPORTANT NEWS! Beep, beep, bedeep, IMPORTANT NEWS!!

Hi friends. I have some important news and it has nothing to do with the celebrities all dying today.

Item #1 - I have the new catalogs in my little hands. I told you they were coming. Those who purchased or earned them - they're headed your way!! Let me know if you need a catalog!

Item #2 - This weekend is the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Chantilly, VA. If you've never been, you neeed to stop by and see the enormity of it. You need to see the HOT trends and products. It's a great time! I'll try to report back here with the amazing things I see!

Ok, now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge

I was stuck in a conference room all day today for training. It was a hands-on-your calculator class participation class taught by the President of the company. Yes, an exciting day and I feel more tired than if I were out running around at my normal job. Strange. On the drive home I knew it was going to be a Big Shot night. I used page 197 of the NEW (2009-2010) catalog for inspiration and then I checked Dawn's site to make sure I had the colors for the challenge correct and then I saw her flower post and changed my card a bit!! I like her flower better. I'll have to try it again!

I used my Bigz Beautiful Butterflies Die, both crinkled and edges sponged. A tied button closes the butterfly element. Two little leaves in Dusty Durango and Go-Go Boots letters. No stamping, just my Big Shot.

Sweet Deets (all supplies Stampin' Up!):
Ink: Chocolate Chip
CS: Dusty Durango, Very Vanilla
DSP: Patterns Pack II (hostess)
Accessories: Big Shot Bigz Beautiful Die, Go-Go Boots, SU! Little Leaves, Button Latte and Linen Thread.

A Recipe Book!

I have very important news regarding the Big Shot Starter Kit. The KIT you find in your current idea book (page 193) will not be offered in the new catalog. The Big Shot and the dies will be available in the new catalog, however, it will be A LA CARTE. There IS a savings if you purchase the KIT as opposed to purchasing all the pieces individually. However, if there's a die from the kit you'd rather do without, you now have that option. Does that make sense? If the starter kit was on your wishlist - you only have until June 30th to purchase it. Everything will be available in the new catalog.

Here's a little recipe book I made for a bride-to-be for a shower I attended this weekend. I used the Bella Blue DSP paper. If you don't own this paper, you need it! It's simple and elegant and perfect. I'll show you the card I made later in the week (wink, wink). And I have a shower invite to show you too - so keep coming back!
I printed recipes on 3"x5" cards, but I left a 1" left margin for the binding. I used naked chipboard for the front and back covers. I used my Bind-It-All to close the book. Dividers were stamped and colored, punched out using the 1" circle punch, matted on 1-1/4" circle. The "R" on the cover was a homemade chipboard letter and the remaining letters were punched using my Big Shot and Go-Go Boots letters.

Sweet Deets (all supplies Stampin' Up!): Stamps: From the Kitchen of Ink: Staz On CS: Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand DSP: Bella Blue Accessories: 1" circle punch, 1-1/4" circle punch, Bigz Serif alphabet, Sizzlits Go-Go Boots alphabet, markers.

This was really a SIMPLE project.
Thanks for stopping,

Sweet Baby

Good morning! Did you wonder what I had planned for the chipboard letters posted here? I purchased plain balsa wood blocks for cheap cheap and created these little blocks. Wouldn't this be cute at a baby shower - on the refreshments table or table centerpiece? Maybe the mom-to-be would keep them and place the blocks on a shelf in the nursery? Here's a great card too! You may remember the button star from this post.

Sweet Deets (all supplies Stampin' Up!):

Thanks Coach

I hope you're not tiring of the Under the Stars set. I had a June deadline that had to feature several cards, scrapbook pages, and a 3-D item all using the same main stamp set and accessory of my choice. The theme was masculine. At first it was a daunting task. Coloring flowers a different color can completely change the tone and look of a card. With man-ly cards it a bit more complex. I selected Under the Stars and Linen Thread for the project. Keep coming back for the rest of the projects - just look for Under the Stars and Linen Thread! It was a great challenge.

Sweet Deets (all supplies Stampin' Up!):

NEW NEW NEW 2009-2010 Sneak Peak

It's been a long week. A very long week. Full of rain and storms. And I have a semi-sore throat. That makes me sad. But tonight is Game 7 of the NHL finals. You know what that means? Stampin' time baby. Better yet, my new product came this week. And that, my friend, makes me happy. Very very happy!

Warning, the picture below may increase heart rate, your palms may become sweaty, it may cause you to squeal in delight, it may cause you to contact me to RESERVE YOUR NEW 2009-2010 CATALOG!!! Yes, it's that good. So take a deep breath and scroll down.

A card this glorious needed a bigger card. This is a 5 1/2" square card. I let the DSP do all the work. It's that wonderful. You're going to love what other sneak peeks I have planned for you. I was going to wait until Saturday to post this, but I was busting at the seams wanting to share this with you. You're welcome! :)

Sweet Deets (all supplies Stampin' Up!):
Stamps: Razzle Dazzle, Teeny Tiny Wishes
DSP: Razzleberry Lemonade
Ink: Apricot Appeal, Rich Razzleberry
CS: Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White
Accessories: 1/2" Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon

2009-2010 In Color Chart!

Two posts today, but both were quick. Remember I mentioned JUNE ORDERS would receive the 2009-2010 In-Color chart? Here it is...complete and ready to send. I've photographed and photographed and photographed this - the colors still aren't true. Bummer. I've even learned the way to set the White Balance on my camera. I'm going to try around noon with the different lighting in my office. I usually get the best light in my office but maybe all the white on this photograph is causing the errors. Sigh. I hope you get the idea. Plus, look closely and you'll see a NEW stamp and a NEW punch. More sneak peeks to come!

ETA: I didn't mean to cause confusion with the flower stamp in the Classic Ink box. The far left flower is the color, the second image (on the right) is the original color, stamped again without reinking. I often "stamp off" on scratch paper to get a softer color. Did that help??

Beautiful Butterfly

I've got a busy weekend planned, how about a simple monochromatic Friday card today? One great advantage to the Big Shot Bigz dies is the ability to cut through various materials. Here's a sprite can I've made into a Top Note and a butterfly. I started working with the colored side and admist the creative process turned over the butterfly to the inside of the can. The can has a natural camber to it, so it was perfect for the butterfly wings to naturally lift from the page.

I initially purchased the Bigz Frame Scallop for scrapbook pages, but I'm having fun using it on cards too. For a softer look from the background stamp (tres chic), I stamped off once before stamping onto my card. A delicate scrap of going gray cardstock ties thru the button.
Thanks for stopping by and T.G.I.F!!

Sweet Invitation

The title says it all. Here's a great young-adventurer's birthday party invitation. I've also included a little paper cone filled with trail mix. The cone is stamped with the mosquito stamp (it's difficult to see them). Did you know it was acceptable to stamp on DSP? It's fantastic. Imagine these cones filled and resting in a basket for the little ones to grab from the counter or buffet line during the party. Make your own trail mix for the kids. It's much cheaper and you can customize it - add fruit snacks or mini candy bar bites.

If you look closely, you may also see a star or two on the Bella Rose DSP. That's not punched out. I took the negative image from an earlier punch out star for a mask and sponged these stars.
Inside message was printed from my computer, edges torn. I made my own 'you're invited' bannner, as I discussed in this post. I have some more invitations planned for the future - all with different styles and occassions. Anyone need a bridal shower invite (sans bears of course)? Sorry, check back later!

Sweet Souvenirs

Good Tuesday Morning to ya! I was a little bummed when the Decor Elements line came out because I have textured walls. Mucho texture. However, the vinyl can be applied to numerous surfaces - glass, vases, mirrors, wood. Here's a (cheap) plain tray I purchased for about $4. It needed minimal sanding and I painted it quickly. Applying the element was a breeze. The vinyl came a set of 6 ($14.95)- here I've only used one. Isn't this a great tray for entertaining? Or maybe in a guest room with snacks or treats for visitors? How about a gift for that special teacher! Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for stopping by!

A Little Sunday Fun

So I've been tweaking the collage feature and editor and came up with a little something fun to share. Here are a few photos from a concert we attended last month. Minus the pollen in the air, it was a great show. It maybe difficult to read the blue (dang). There was Jason Michael Carroll, Keith Anderson, Joe Nichols, Little Big Town and Rodney Atkins. We were at Nissan Pavillion in Bristow, VA.

Sweet Sundae 101 – Mounting your stamps

When you purchase SU! stamps, you’ll notice they come die-cut, but unmounted. This keeps the cost lower and allows you to customize the location of the image on the wood block. I mount the majority of my stamps in the middle of the wood block. However, I mount alphabet stamps in the corner so I can tilt my head and see the alignment and placement of the letter.
Carefully layout the images on the blocks before you start mounting the images. All the blocks are not the same size, and some stamps will only fit on one block. Rest assured, if you don’t like the position, zap the stamp in the microwave for 5-10 seconds. CAUTION: the wood block may be hot, use care when handling the block. The heat will melt the glue so you can lift the rubber without damaging the image. You’ll need a strong adhesive or crystal effects to secure the image on the wood. Store all rubber out of direct sunlight!
Here's a couple pics of mounting my stamps....

Happy Sunday, thanks for stopping by!

Bye-bye Outlined For Fun

I have a confession. When I started stamping, Outlined for Fun was one of the first sets I purchased. I'm sad to see it retire. It was another Sketch Saturday over at Stamping411.

I've widened the border on my focal image for emphasis. I kept it pretty simple and let the polka dots do the talking. Originally when I saw the sketch I thought about using a texture plate but my desk is a mess and while unearthing the Big Shot, the Taste of Textiles DSP caught my eye. Rarely do the cards I 'envision' or set-out to make result in the end process.
And it finally stopped raining today! This week was miserable at work in the rain and then traffic was a disaster each night. I was thankful to see the sunshine today. My card and I went outdoors for a photo shoot! This card is going in the mail on Monday with a DVD (New in Town - Have you seen that movie? They scrapbook!! It's a hoot.) and a book (we're Janet Evanovich fans) to my mom. She's on summer break (lucky her!).
Thanks for stopping by, hope you're enjoying the weekend.

Chipboard Letters

Remember this post when I discussed making your own elements? I love chipboard. I love chipboard letters. In the era known as B.B.S. (Before my Big Shot), I would purchase naked chipboard letters and numbers and cover them with DSP. Remember the hassle? Let me remind you, you'd glue and cover the letter, trim it down, and sand the edges for hours and hours. The middle of A's required numerous tools and I was never 100% satisifed with the outcome.

Well, thankfully that's all in the past now! Here I can make any letter in any color or DSP. I snag everyone's legal pad cardboard, I save all the thin cardboard that comes from Big Shot dies and other random thick material (i.e. Wheat Thins boxes) to make my chipboard elements. Bigz dies cut thru several materials! Cover the square chipboard with DSP and then put the DSP FACE DOWN on the die. Run thru the big shot. Awesome. No more sanding. No more middle of A's that look crummy. Check back later for some great projects using these letters. HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY!

Sweet Souvenirs

Need a quick gift? Maybe a centerpiece for a party? Want to spruce up your décor? You can stamp on candles! Best of all, these candles were generic white, non-scented (a.k.a. inexpensive!).

Here are a few tips I discovered;Use the shiny side of tissue paper - it will stamp crisper. It's easiest to see the difference among the tissue paper in natural light. Don't wrinkle or crinkle the tissue paper before stamping, after stamping, or during the application to the candle. To reduce the chances of crinkled tissue paper, I cut my tissue paper into squares after opening the package so it could be stored flat.
After stamping the image on tissue paper, roughly cut it out. Use an anywhere glue stick to adhere the tissue paper to the candle. Take a loooonnnnggggg piece of wax paper – and cover the candle with the wax paper. Make this flat and tight to the candle or crinkles will appear on the candle.

Warm up the heat tool before heating the wax paper. (Just like you preheat your oven before placing your sweets inside for baking).

It's ok to underheat - don't overheat! Gently peel back paper and if you can see the tissue paper - heat again. It's easy to see when it's getting GLOSSY - just like when you emboss. If you overheat, the candle with get bubbly and the surface rough.

Don't reuse the same wax paper area - you need the wax during the heating process.

As with any candle, don’t leave it burning unattended.

Love this stamp? Hurry, it will retired with the catalog on June 30th! This is a hostess set - so you can only earn it; not buy it!
